How it works
Three steps. One considered approach.
The original EXION educational animations show the treatment concept beneath the skin. They illustrate a mechanism, not a promised individual result.
01
Precision at the skin’s surface
Fine needles create controlled microchannels in the skin. Your provider selects the treatment depth and settings for the area and your individual skin assessment.
02
Radiofrequency, delivered below
The Fractional RF applicator delivers radiofrequency energy through the needles, creating localized heating in the skin. EXION uses impedance feedback to adjust energy delivery; the aim is controlled treatment, not a one-setting-fits-all approach.
03
A gradual remodeling response
Microneedling and RF heating are intended to stimulate the skin’s repair response and collagen remodeling. Changes in the appearance of texture and firmness develop gradually, with the degree and timing of improvement varying from person to person.
Your treatment plan
The right treatment starts with the right questions.
Ask about facial texture, fine lines, the neck or a specific body concern. EXION Fractional RF has face-and-body applications; your provider confirms the areas GLO offers and whether the treatment is appropriate for your skin and the device’s labeling.
RF microneedling is distinct from the non-needling EXION Face and Body applicators. If your goals call for a different approach, explore Morpheus8, NOUVADerm resurfacing or HydraFacial with your provider.

Before your visit
Discuss medications, current skincare, previous procedures, recent sun exposure and relevant medical history. Your provider assesses candidacy and gives preparation instructions tailored to you. Active infection or certain health conditions may make treatment inappropriate.
During the procedure
After cleansing and preparation, your provider treats the planned area using the Fractional RF handpiece. You may feel heat, pressure or prickling. Numbing and comfort measures are discussed individually; allow time for preparation as well as treatment.
Recovery & aftercare
Redness, swelling, sensitivity and small treatment-site changes can occur. Recovery is not identical for every skin type, area or setting. Follow your provider’s instructions for gentle cleansing, sun protection and when to return to makeup, active skincare and activities.
A confident decision is an informed one.
RF microneedling is a medical procedure. Risks include infection, pigment changes, burns and scarring; serious complications reported with certain uses of RF microneedling also include fat loss and nerve injury. Discuss benefits, risks and alternatives with an appropriately trained, licensed treating provider before proceeding. Individual results may vary.

Your questions
Exion RF Microneedling FAQs
What is Exion RF Microneedling?
EXION Fractional RF combines microneedles with radiofrequency energy delivered into the skin. The controlled treatment is intended to support collagen remodeling and improve the appearance of selected texture, fine-line and laxity concerns. It is a medical procedure, not an at-home skincare treatment.
How is RF microneedling different from traditional microneedling?
Traditional microneedling creates small channels in the skin with needles. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy through the needles to create localized heating. The extra energy changes both the treatment approach and risk profile; more energy is not automatically better.
Is Exion RF Microneedling the same as Exion Face or Exion Body?
No. EXION Fractional RF is the microneedling applicator. EXION Face and Body are different applicators with different treatment approaches. This page describes RF microneedling only.
Can it help with skin texture and acne scars?
Rough-looking texture, the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and skin laxity are goals you can discuss at your consultation. The right approach depends on the type of concern, your skin and medical history. Active acne, infection or other skin conditions may require treatment or a different plan first.
Which areas can be considered?
The EXION Fractional RF platform has face-and-body applications. Ask about facial texture, the neck or a specific body concern during your consultation. GLO’s treating provider must confirm the areas offered, device labeling and safe settings for your individual plan; not every area or concern is suitable.
Does treatment hurt, and is numbing used?
You may feel heat, pressure or a prickling sensation. Comfort varies with the area and treatment settings. Your provider will discuss whether topical numbing is appropriate and how comfort will be managed; painless treatment is not promised.
What should I expect during recovery?
Redness, swelling, sensitivity and small treatment-site changes can occur. Recovery varies with settings, area and skin response. Your provider will give individualized cleansing, skincare, sun-protection and activity guidance, including when to resume makeup or active products.
How many sessions will I need, and when will I see changes?
There is no universal session count or result timeline. Your provider will recommend a plan after assessing your skin and goals. Collagen remodeling is gradual, and the response to treatment varies. Individual results may vary.
What risks should I discuss before RF microneedling?
Alongside temporary redness and swelling, risks include infection, pigment changes, burns and scarring. Serious complications reported with certain uses of RF microneedling include fat loss and nerve injury. Discuss your medical history, medications, prior procedures and the benefits and risks with an appropriately trained, licensed treating provider.
